Teaching Scholarship Success!

Graduating BSc students Hazel Gardiner and Harry Lord have secured prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry Teacher Training Scholarships.

The Scholarships, which provide bursary support during PGCE studies as well as unique mentoring and personal development opportunities, were secured following a highly competitive process, including a one-day assessment centre.

Harry said “I was really pleased to be successful in this – there were some amazing candidates at the assessment centre, including some people with over 10 years industrial experience behind them. I’m sure our work on the Chemistry into Schools module at Leeds gave us a big hand on the day.”  Hazel added “'I didn't know what to expect when I went to the interview but it was actually a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to my career, and to being involved in a wider movement promoting and improving Chemistry education with the Royal Society.”

Hazel will be carrying out her PGCE in Leeds and Harry will be moving to Manchester for his.  Many congratulations to both!
