Risk Assessments

Risk assessment underpins all of modern safety management and is required by several parts of health and safety law in the UK. Performing a risk assessment requires that you:

  • formally assess the hazards inherent within a procedure
  • identify those people who may be affected
  • assess the likelihood of adverse consequences and effect of appropriate control measures
  • arrive at a semi-quantitative assessment of the risks involved

Performing a risk assessment before you start a procedure is an essential part of all aspects of modern research and you must comply with these regulations.
