Great things start here

We aim to give you the support, guidance and opportunities in which to fulfil your potential. And some of our recent chemistry students have achieved great things.

Sannia Farooque, who studied MChem, BSc Chemistry, was named as one of the Royal Society of Chemistry's '175 Faces of Chemistry'. This celebrated Sannia's achievements both professionally and personally.

Daniel Price (who studied MChem, BSc Medicinal Chemistry) was awarded the Salters' Graduate Prize 2016. This prize is awarded to high achieving chemistry students who have the potential to make a really big contribution to the chemical industry in the future.

We're proud of these achievements, and we continue to support all our students in achieving their ambitions.

Learn chemistry through research-led teaching

You’ll be guided through your degree by scientists who have an international reputation.

Our team’s research will be at the heart of your learning. We’re ranked 4th in the country for research impact, and 95% of our chemistry research is rated as ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘internationally leading’.

Exceptional student support throughout your course

We aim to give you the best possible support during your degree. You’ll be given a personal tutor, who’ll help you to learn chemistry whilst also taking care of your personal development.

Peer mentorship and research internships also give you opportunities to gain support, develop your skills, and increase your experience.

Choose a BSc or MChem degree

All our chemistry degrees are available as a three-year BSc degree, or a four-year MChem integrated masters degree. An integrated masters is a four-year degree that extends your studies to masters level, improving your career prospects or setting you up to do a PhD in the future.

Hear from our students

Vikki Clayton

MChem, BSc Medicinal Chemistry

"My dream has always been to work in the pharmaceutical industry, developing drugs of the future which will directly benefit patients. Thanks to the support of everyone at Leeds, and the opportunity I was given to work at GlaxoSmithKline in my placement year, I have now secured a fantastic Medicinal Chemistry job which I am very excited to begin later this year."

Royal Society of Chemistry

Our MChem, BSc Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry and BSc Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry degrees are accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Courses which are accredited by the RSC have been evaluated and approved by professional chemists, so you can feel confident that the course gives you an education that meets the needs of potential future employers.
