Welcome to the School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds

We are one of the most prestigious chemistry departments in the UK, having built up a national and international reputation for our teaching and research excellence over more than one hundred years.

We have 55 academic and academic-related staff, in excess of 140 postgraduate students and 50 postdoctoral fellows. In the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 the School was confirmed as one of the top departments, being ranked 8th in the UK. This is reinforced by our "excellent" rating for our teaching in the Teaching Quality Assessment (TQA).
