Louise Crabtree
Widening Participation/Schools Liaison Officer
My remit is to encourage young people to continue their study of maths and science, in particular those who are currently under represented in Higher Education. Having previously worked in the Chemical industry for 10 years, I am keen for young people to understand the importance of maths and science in our lives and its everyday uses.
I am responsible for placing current maths, chemistry and physics undergraduates into local schools for the maths and science into schools accredited module, I also organise many of the outreach events within the Faculty, for example, the RSC Christmas lecture for schools, STEM days, Salters Colour Chemistry camp and I am part of the Leeds Festival of Science team.
Please contact me for further information on our outreach activity.

Dr Annette Taylor
Lecturer & Schools Liaison Officer
As Schools Liaison Officer I design and run activities for schools. I am interested in promoting science through creating interesting workshops for pupils as well as developing more challenging material for schools to push the application of science beyond the curriculum. My main role as a Lecturer in Chemistry involves teaching courses in physical chemistry and maths and performing research in the area of chemical kinetics. I use computer simulations to make predictions about how the speed of chemical reactions influences industrial processes or cellular organisms like bacteria.
My favourite past-time is travelling and happily as part of my job I get to visit scientists all over the world.
