Research in Atmospheric Chemistry at Leeds

We are currently involved in a wide range of studies, both modelling and experimental, with relevance to tropospheric and stratospheric processes.

Access points to other servers

National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory

The UK DETR have been funding automated monitoring of air quality at several urban and rural sites around the British Isles. The data gathered from these automated sites are posted hourly to the Air Quality pages.

British Atmospheric Data Centre

The commission of European Communities is currently conducting studies through the Joint Research Centre as part of setting up a Centre for Earth Observation (CEO). Despite the name this will be a distributed system, involving existing data provision systems. One of these studies, lead by the Hadley Centre, is in the area of Global Change Atmosphere and involves an experimental demonstrator using the World-Wide-Web system. This is being run by the British Atmospheric Data Centre at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The demonstrator provides the following facilities

  • Access to search engines
  • Access to catalogues
  • Access to a TOMS dataset
  • Access to assimilated UKMO data for the UARS satellite
  • Links to other W3 servers in the area of Global Change Atmosphere

Atmospheric Chemistry International Research Site

We mirror the Atmospheric Chemistry International Research Site (AIRSITE) . We plan to provide a mirror service to AIRSITE's ftp server. This is not operational yet, but until then we have local copies of the JPL chemical kinetics and photochemical data for use in stratospheric modeling.
